Q. What is a modular home?

A. A modular home is factory constructed in a controlled environment with quality materials and components. Too many modular homes are built in pieces using approximately 30% more lumber than stick built, and are connected to a foundation and to each other. Many modular homes appreciate, appraise, and resell at the same rate as or even better than stick built homes. They can be used to build garages, duplexes, condos, townhouses, even office buildings.

Q. Who manufactures the modules and why did you select that company?

A. After researching a large number of manufacturers, we found that the quality of the PBS homes to be superior to many other manufacturers. Their dedication to quality was apparent from the time it is built in the climate controlled facility, to the time it arrives at its final destination. They back up their product with a strong 10 year warranty. PBS is an Energy Star Partner and a Certified Green Professional, not only showing how much they care about the environment, but also how much they are concerned in the amount of energy your home consumes.

A. Yes

Q. How long is the building process?

A. We estimate that it will take three to four months from the first time we meet until the day you can move into your new home. Most of that time will be spent on design, approvals and site work. Depending on the time of year, your home can be built and delivered in six to eight weeks.

Q. Can I customize my own house?

A. Absolutely.

Q. How far will you travel to deliver a home?

A. We generally travel up to 100 miles from our office. Albany, Columbia, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Warren Counties are all in our general trading area. You can always call us to verify if you are building in our delivery area.

Q. Why are modules built in a controlled environment?

A. Not only are there more inspections and higher quality control, our building materials are never exposed to the elements. This leaves the modular homeowner with a cleaner home and a far lower risk for mold, mildew, and pest infestation.

Q. Are the design options flexible?

A. Modular doesn’t mean a square box. You can choose from hundreds of floor plans or let us design one just for you. You can choose from a Ranch home with two, three, four, or more modules, a Cape Cod with multiple dormers and Palladium windows, or a Two Story home, both traditional and modern. Chalet homes or more contemporary looking homes can also be built modular.

Q. What is the comparative completion time?

A. Not only does it take far less to build and set a modular than it does to build a stick built home, it’s also less expensive. Building homes is truly an art, but what makes modular homes tower above the rest is the amount of time it takes to have the home complete and ready for the buyer to move in.

A. Our manufacturer provides each new home with a 10 year structural warranty right from the start.
